James 1:5 (New International Version)

5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

I lack wisdom. Sometimes I just have to admit that I have acted or reacted with a total lack of wisdom. As a parent, I have that split second to make a decision or decide what disciplinary measure needs to be taken…or do I only have that split second? I think that is where I often lack wisdom. What’s the rush? Why do I feel like I must rush to a snap judgement-black or white.
I need to learn to take a deep breath and PRAY! Revolutionary, I know! 🙂 The Bible is so clear in James 1:5. Not only does God give wisdom to those who ask, but also those who don’t deserve it…THAT’S ME in a nutshell.
Now, I just have to pray that I will remember to pray when that moment hits and I have a decision to make. I’m so glad that God doesn’t judge my sin as quickly as I am sometimes quick to judge another, so thankful for a God of mercy and forgiveness who gives me more chances to try and try again…wisely.

  1. We all lack wisdom in some area or another…or at times is not the lack of wisdom but having wisdom yet not applying it appropriately. For example…King Solomon was the wisest of all men…yet, he married many wives who drew him into idolatry.

    • So true! Thank you for your insight!
