Firework Moments

God never intended us to have the fireworks as the basis of our Christian life; if we insist on the ‘WOW’, we may miss God’s whisper. If we are always waiting for the next emotion-filled fireworks moment, we may not recognize those moments when God is whispering to our hearts in a still, small voice. It is so easy to get caught up in the emotion of the moment, then walk away with no real change in the heart.
That isn’t to say that there is no room for emotions in our Christian walk. To feel in awe of the love of Christ and His willing sacrifice as you sing ‘Amazing Grace’, or to feel the tears streaming down your cheeks as you read a verse of Scripture that seems like it is written just for you-those moments when God is so clearly at work that they take your breath away are part of the joy that can only be found through knowing the Lord.
However, if nothing is meaningful without the fireworks and the ‘Wow’, then how many blessings are we missing out on when God is speaking to our souls in His still, small voice? Sometimes we just need to take the time to be still and know that He is God.
